Future Fabric Expo London
We as the sustainability department, have decided to attend the largest sustainability-only fabric fair in the world, the Future Fabric Expo, taking place in London on the 24th and 25th of January. Upon close collaboration with the fair organiser, the Sustainable Angle, a non profit organization which is quite influential, we have decided to attend the fair as an exhibitor, creating a capsule collection to demonstrate in the fair, as a token of our commitment and passion for the matter. The collection will be made by %100 sustainable material, and will be both fashionable and sustainable (a problem of our business, not being able to create trendy and ecologically friendly garments in our opinion). We have decided on the fabrics on a large percentile, and have secured a joint approach with Lenzing, as we are to use some of their products in our collection and we have strong connection with them. The name Lenzing will be written next to ours on our booth in the fair in January London 2019. We will promote our supply chain’s transparency, our tracing mechanisms for our garments on the supply chain and the metrics we use to assess ourselves and the products we have produced.
How to measure impact of sustainability in business (as Return on Investment)
Our collegague Emir, from the Sustainability Department has returned from the conference, “how to measure impact of sustainability in business (as ROI)” held in Detroit. The aim of the Sustainability Department’s attending this conference was to get more knowledge on how firms (which were not only from the textile business in Detroit) have started to transform their supply chains on maintaining principles that are more sustainable and as a requirement of that, more transparent. We have come to the clear understanding that “a more sustainable supply chain” and “accountability on this matter to the consumer” are top priorities at the moment all along other businesses aswell, certainly for textile as well. How to measure our impact and how to manage a process of change are the top challenges right now, mainly responded by attaining core values of the company and sticking to them, introducing new key performance indicators and having “the sustainable approach” as one of them. Measurement is key for this matter to be tackled. So we have again seen it in this conference.
