Lenzing Bridge Project

This week, Gaia Sustainability team joined a project conducted by “Lenzing” called the “Bridge Project”. The attendance was 2 days and was highly visionary.

Bridge project was carried out by Lenzing Turkey 2 seasons ago. The aim of the project is inviting well known Turkish woven and jersey suppliers to discuss new fabric developments for SS20 with sustainable materials. We are the first sourcing office to join this fruitful meeting.

Lenzing also invited Mrs.Marie Louise Rosholm from the Danish design company MLR and she explained the trends for SS20 divided in 4 sectors as Woven, Jersey, Activewear and Lingerie.

The aim of her fabric  boards was to show how to integrate sustainable materials into coming trends.

Turkish fabric suppliers had the chance to discuss new fabric development clues with material experts from Lenzing and together with the Turkish Lenzing Office Team, 3 guests from Lenzing abroad joined these interactive meetings, Head of Global Business Development for Outer&ActiveWear, Global Business Development Director for İnnerwear and BD Manager for Knits/Apparel.

Fabric suppliers will now develop new fabrics based on all new information from these workshops. Moreover, we will also let them develop some new fabrics based on your brand and lines.

One very interesting innovation is flok print out of Tencel. We have seen both versions, allover printed flok and as placement print.

We are excited to send you the results soon.

Sustainably Shared Future

Another interesting activity carried out by the Gaia Sustainabilty Department was the attendance to the “Sustainable Shared Future” seminar carried out by the non-profit organisation Kalder at the prestigous “Zorlu Performance Theatre”. The event went on for 2 days and many interesting aspects were discussed on various levels, such as high school students presenting innovative projects undertaken and the dealings of their schools and how they shift towards sustainability, to the chairman of TÜSİAD, (Turkish Industry & Business Association) the largest voluntary organization for business in Turkey. The main theme of the seminar that we have derived was the use of technology and innovative software systems to improve the way business is done. The idea was that business can be sustainable and thrive this way. Basically speakers at panels emphasized the importance of this transaction, as well as the attendance to the seminar from various sectors gave on oversight on how businesses, education establishments and organizations need to emphasize to “raise” employees, students and future leaders that will take on this transaction to a better way.
